    it should have a port called uplink, connect the dsl modem to that one.

    the answer is yes it is any Cat. 5 or 6 cable can fit in

    A switch will operate the same way. Once the first Port is Activated then the second is not useable

    It should be on the back of your pc but some dont have it…

    Actually you really need to connect a router to the switch. Then all the ports will be active, otherwise only one port can be active at a time. If a second person goes online it will disconnect the first and so on. But with a router you can have virtually unlimited number of users. Get a Linksys router and hook the DSL to it. Then hook an ethernet cable from the router to the switch uplink. Newer switches no longer have an uplink port becasue they are autosensing and you just plug it into any port. Then all th eswitches ports will be live and working and all users can use internet at the same time.
